History Association Sponsors Resident Essay Contest |

contest to promote interest in anesthesiology history among
resident physicians. To enter the contest, residents must
write a 1,000- to 3,000-word essay on a topic about the
history of anesthesiology, pain medicine or critical care
while the author is a resident or fellow or within one year
of completion of residency or fellowship. International
submissions are encouraged. All essays must be written in
English.
The first-place winner of this contest will receive a check
for $500. Prizes for second and third places are $200 and
$100. The winners will be announced and prizes awarded at
the AHA’s annual dinner meeting. That meeting will
take place on October 24, 2004, during the ASA Annual Meeting
in Las Vegas, Nevada. Authors of all entries will be encouraged
to submit their essays for possible publication in the AHA’s
quarterly journal Bulletin of Anesthesia History.
The essays must be submitted on or before August 23, 2004.
